This rather neglected hill is the site of an iron age fort. It offers commanding views and a delightful short walk with plenty of nature to discover in its regenerating woodlands.

Craigluscar has a small car park for walkers at Glassiebarns, reached by driving along Craigluscar Road, passing the angling club, then bearing left when the road bends right towards the activity centre. Continue along the unsurfaced lane - slowly to avoid damage to either it or your vehicle - and you'll reach a car park on the right, opposite a waterworks. Begin the walk on the grassy path that begins from the parking, heading through a gate and continuing to pass to the right of a house.
A second gate leads into the mixed woodland. Follow the path which bears left and climbs through the trees, keeping left at a fork. The paths on the hilltop are indistinct but can be followed with care, running around the boundary of what was an iron age fort; there are soon extensive views over the Forth. The path curves right and passes through more trees before curving right again along the far side of the fort - now heading east.
After crossing a broken down wall fork half right onto a narrower path. This soon comes alongside a fence and follows it to the left, climbing to reach the highest point on the hill. The Forth Bridges are well seen from here, whilst Knock Hill dominates to the north. There was once an information board but it is now blank! Eventually the path approaches a stone wall - bear left alongside it.
The path follows the wall into a dip, where it meets a grassy track - turn left along this and keep on the track, which winds about in and out of the trees. At a fork keep straight ahead a little uphill, and keep on the track passing through a gap in a stone wall and fence. The track keeps close to the foot of the northern slopes of the hill. At a more surfaced track, go straight across.
Eventually the route curves left to keep near the foot of the hill sides, with a fence and fields on your right. It can be slightly overgrown at times, but the mix of trees and seclusion makes this a beautiful spot. As the path rounds to the southern side of the hill, it heads slightly into the trees and continues through the woods. It passes above the house and rejoins the outward route - turn right along this to return to the parking area.
